Kesler no more!

LA Birch Leafs Gives:
Ryan Kesler

Gastown Jacks Gives:
Marian Hossa
Antoine Vermette
$4.250 million in 2011-12

The off-season starts with a big bang as Kesler gives up his Birch Leaf jersey to go to Gastown Jacks! Decent haul and I like the trade for both teams. Hossa and the underrated Vermette should be very helpful in many cats and obviously, both are great wingers (something Birch Leafs needed )

Kesler steps right into Gastown as a big centerman who will fill ALL stats! This should be interesting if Kesler can regain that offensive touch he had a season ago.

Former teammates switch hands

Bogota Bandits:
Dany Heatley
Sam Gagner
Mark Pysyk
2012 4th Round Amateur
$650 000

Pretty significant trade here. Dare I say, two players slightly past their prime change hands here. Both carry a big salary so this is more or less a positional move possibly. While Heatley likely isn't a 40+ goal scorer anymore, hes still a very talented winger, and lets face it, those are always hard to come by. Thornton always seems to slightly underachieve in recent years but when hes on his game, hes still arguably one of the best centers in the game.

Everyone is happy here! Eller is an interesting prospects, too bad he is a center. He did have that 4 goal night so maybe with some experience and consistency, he can become a solid performer.

Trade season is full effect

IceHoles Gives:
4th Round Amateur

Flying Beavers Gives:
Rick Nash
3rd Round Amateur
$1,500,000

Iceholes wasted little time in shoring up a winger and dishing away a centerman. Trading from his strength, Iceholes lands the ever so underachieving Nash. This could work out extremely well as Nash rumors are on the high right now. Will he finally be that power forward we see when he puts on a Canadian jersey, we sure hope so.

Beavers LW takes a minor hit but his centermen's get a big boost! Getzlaf is a solid player and with most of the Ducks, is simply have a not so great year. Getzlaf's name has come up in a few trade rumors but its unlikely anything crazy will happen there.

LA Brewpens Gives:

IceHoles Gives:
Mike Cammalleri
Craig Smith
$1,250,000

Big names and big salaries move here. Icehole adds another great centerman on that every so good Boston team. Krejci has been horribly inconsistent this season with his best buddy Horton still out with concussion symptoms. None the less, hes a talented player and should bounce back.

Cammalleri is quite the enigma, very talented and physically sexy, but this season has just not been going his way. He has been trending downwards since his breakout in Calgary but now back in Calgary, will he be able to find that touch? He will have to as takes a big chomp outta Brewpens salary cap.

The Half Centaurs Gives:
Matt Calvert
5th Round Amateur

In a surprise, Half Cents has become a buyer near the trade deadline and makes a underrated move. Raymond still quite hasn't gotten his groove back after this injury but he could start to heat up down the road (when it really counts). On the other side, Brewpens gets some cap space and another underrated winger. He still somewhat of a mystery but hes shown flashes of his goal scoring ability.

2013 1st Round Amateur

The retooling for Bogota does not stop with Crosby. Here he acquires a few good pieces that will help him now and later. Michalek could be trade bait as we get closer to the trade deadline. Orkney continues to bulk up with the underachieving Stewart. After a big season last year, Stewart seems to have lost a step or two but hopefully he can turn it around in the 2nd half of the season. Its yet to be determined if Suter finishes the season in Nashville, he has been a popular name in trade rumors.

Man on a Mission

Bogota Bandits Gives:
$1,750,000
Sidney Crosby
Wayne Simmonds
Sean Couturier
Conditional 2013 2nd Round Re-Entry Pick*

*If Crosby plays less than 40 games in 2012-13, Team A gets this pick.

I can easily say Bogota has done a complete 180 on this team and there is no sign of him stopping. Bogota takes a gamble on a "new" Crosby, much more fragile than before, but when healthy, is undeniably the best NHL player. In addition, he adds a Couturier, a fresh young rookie on that explosive Philly team. He could be the kicker in this trade that pushes it over the edge. Bogota definitely made some sacrifices and had to trade away some very good players. TTPL addresses a long-time issue which has be RWers and now boosts one of the strongest groups in the league. One can say, this is a statement trade and that the TTPL are tired of waiting for the perfect season.
